What is a bleed control kit ?

A bleed control kit is an emergency medical kit that has been designed to provide initial first responders or the general public with quick access to medical equipment. Having access to this equipment is essential because in an emergency, the right tools could save your life.

Combat Tourniquet

A tourniquet is a device which applies pressure to a limb or extremity in order to stop a catastrophic bleed. It may be used in emergencies, in surgery, or in post-operative rehabilitation. They should be lightweight and operable with one hand, for rapid and reliable application. We has a range of easy-to-apply tourniquets, currently used by military and emergency services personnel.

Pressure Bandage

A pressure dressing is designed to bring extra pressure to a wound, helping to coagulate blood in severe bleeds. They are also used in junctional areas such as the armpit and often used in conjunction with a haemostatic to further reduce blood loss.

Chest Seal

A chest seal is an innovative dressing for the emergency management of penetrating chest wounds. Its purpose is to cover penetrating chest wounds to allow air and fluids to escape from the pleural cavity without being drawn back in. The aim is to minimise lung collapse associated and to facilitate lung reinflation.

Trauma Shear

In the event of a knife injury, for instance, or a car crash, it may be necessary to cut away clothing from wounds. In order to ensure treatment as quickly as possible, all bleed kits should contain scissors that can easily cut through clothing and footwear.

Decompression Needle

A needle decompression is a medical procedure that’s most commonly used to treat patients suffering from a tension pneumothorax. A tension pneumothorax occurs when air pressure builds up in the pleural space. The pleural space is the space between the inner and outer membranes that surround each lung.

Compressed Gauze

Compressed gauze is an ultra-compact roll of sterile, high quality 100% cotton gauze that utilizes a unique crinkle weave that has excellent fluid absorption. It is a 6-ply, 4.5” x 4.1 yd. gauze with finished edges to reduce loose ends or lint. The gauze is indicated for the treatment of bleeding and the dressing and bandaging of wounds.

Bleeding control kit is designed to treat wounds in the most effective way. Each item can be used individually or in conjunction with other items to provide the most effective pre-hospital care.
